Today, I’ve decided to write a poem for my dad.
Our journey has been complicated — a road we once walked together, but now seems lost to time.
It twisted and turned until our paths split when our relationship ended and your addiction began.
There are memories of better days, moments when laughter filled the silence between us,
But those days feel distant now, buried beneath the weight of your struggle.
Even through the years of distance, through the pain and the silence,
I want you to know that I still love you.
It’s not easy — there are scars, hurt, and wounds that haven’t healed.
But deep down, there’s still a part of me that hopes,
Hopes that someday, despite everything, we’ll find our way back to each other.
Because even though the storm has come and gone,
Even though your addiction has stolen pieces of you,
I want you to know that I still love you.
And I always will.
Talk to me soon,
-Logan
